Our Purpose

Banyan Capital Management is not everything for everyone. We do not sell financial products or engage in estate planning, and we do not offer numerous “strategies” from which clients select.

Rather, we focus on what we do best, investing, and we offer a single solution. We believe the best approach to investing is to own a select group of great companies trading at fair prices.

We are fundamentalists. We view a stock as an ownership interest in a business, and this view is core to our investment philosophy. We do not chase returns or try to time the market.

We manage risk one security at a time. To do so, we adhere to a well-defined process to select securities with attractive risk/reward propositions. Our process guides our decisions.

We embrace intelligent diversification. This can be achieved by thoughtfully selecting 15-20 securities. Extreme diversification, on the other hand, is better at minimizing thought than risk.

Creating value for existing clients trumps finding new clients. While we recognize growth is critical to our survival, growth is not our main goal. We prefer quality to quantity.

We eat our own cooking. Every full-time employee of Banyan is barred from buying public securities our clients do not own. If we are buying it for you, we are buying it for ourselves.
